Wetenschappelijk onderzoek

Het wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar (partner)geweld tijdens de zwangerschap is een vrij recent fenomeen (+/- 30 jaar). Er is ondertussen vrij veel gekend over hoe vaak het voorkomt en wat de gevolgen zijn voor moeder en kind. Studies die testen of er ook effectief iets kan gedaan worden aan het probleem en de gevolgen van geweld tijdens de zwangerschap, zijn er nog niet veel gebeurd. Stilaan vormt er zich duidelijk een consensus dat het veilig en effectief is om routinematig alle zwangere vrouwen minstens één keer rond de periode van zwangerschap & bevalling, te bevragen over hun ervaringen met (partner)geweld. De vraag stellen naar geweld lijkt momenteel de meest effectieve manier te zijn om het probleem aan te pakken.
